POMA Accomplishments

What we have done and are continuing to do.

Current Projects

  • Regularly meeting with Evansville Mayor and City Council members to resolve landlord and tenant issues alike.
  • Working with EPD and Prosecutors office on homeless/squatter issue.
  • Working with Building Commission and Department of Code Enforcement to create cooperative and helpful housing policies.
  • Working with city and EWSU to create their webpage which gives us access to our water accounts and helped eliminate huge delinquent charges for rental owners.

Past Projects

  • Worked to help create the Maintenance License for landlords to perform their own maintenance on units owned.
  • Helped develop communication channels with the Building Commission to speed up resolving code violations and grass, weed, and trash issues.
  • Worked with city officials in regards to the mandatory rental registry.
  • Worked to make the required registry less restrictive for landlords.
  • Stood up against the Good Neighbor ordinance and Mandatory Inspection proposals.
  • Worked with Health Department on lead based paint issues for children.
  • Helped establish the Mayor's No Meth Task Force (now the Mayor's Substance Abuse Task Force) to combat meth-related fires and explosions in rental properties.
