Who Is POMA?
Promoting excellence in property management.
Promoting excellence in property management.
POMA educates its members on state and federal laws (including the Federal Fair Housing Act of 1968) and policy relating to equal housing rights, in order to achieve equal housing opportunities for everyone. Our members understand that they must comply with state and federal laws, which includes refraining from discriminating against people based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. POMA opposes and emphatically condemns discrimination in any form by landlordsagainst any tenant.
POMA supports the rights of both landlord and tenant. For example, landlords have the right to: (a) collect rent promptly, (b) collect security deposits to cover damages that are beyond normal wear and tear to the rental premises, and (c) ultimately pursue an eviction lawsuit if the tenant does not comply with the terms of the lease. At the same time, each tenant has rights, including: (a) the right to have habitable housing, (b) the right to be free from discrimination, and (c) the right to have the property repaired and maintained. Our members understand this and strive to ensure that landlords and tenants are supported.
